"THE RED BARN", 11" x 14", Oil on Canvas (framed) was one of my favorites to paint. This barn is in Fallbrook, CA at the Myrtle Creek Nursery. An often painted barn I suspect, nessled under trees and by all the gorgeous flowers at the nursery. I wanted to try something different and used a very limited pallette, painting in my own impressionistic style. I only used Ultramarine Blue, Med. Cad Yellow and Cadmium Red, plus Ivory Black and Titatium White. It is amazing how all the colors work and really all one needs. It prooved out to work for me but I hope you like it too. I took the photo of this barn when down there one time and have been looking forward to the day of painting it. Thank you for looking. I grew up in Pasadena, California, and have lived near the edge of the Arroyo my whole life. First with my parents and sister, and then later with my own family, with a son and three daughters. I had a happy and busy life. As the kids grew I also went back to school, earning my RN degree. I then worked at the hospital where I was born, as well as where I had my own children. I always had a desire to paint but never gave it much thought until one day...and the story goes from there. I became self taught until studying watercolor with, Nuttall, Wiegardt, Stoddard, and Swenson, some of the best. From there I went to Art Center College of Design, up on the hill, where I first learned of my passion to also paint in oil. I was signed up to take a workshop with, Charles Reid who is my very favorite artist in watercolor and oil. Since fall, I have been dealing with breast cancer so my desires to take certain classes have to go on the back burner for now. Just a bump in the road is all. I also have great admiration for the talent of Jeremy Lipking. I check out his work frequently and am in awe. He is really good..!!
