"SWEET and SOUR", 10" x 7", Watercolor Original

"Sweet and Sour", 10" x 7", Original Watercolor Painting.  This lovely Sunflowers in blue vase with Lemon still life, was done out my love for flowers.  I LOVE loosly painted impressionistic florals done by a window, where some of the outside can come into the painting. I love sunflowers and was feeling that season wasn't quite long enough so if I painted them it would last forever. I hope you enjoy this piece of fine art, and if you'd like to purchase it, please contact me at arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my work. It's been too long since I have updated my blog but will catch up soon.

"CASHMERE", 11" x 9", Original Watercolor

"Cashmere" 11" x 9", Original Watercolor Painting. This painting was inspired long ago and now just getting around to finally paint it. I love this rose and hope you enjoy looking at it. It is a well shaped, youthful rose with clean lines.  I've had it in my mind for a long time and cannot find one, hence painting from my mind. Artists do that so I am not unusual in that. I hope you enjoy my impressionistic style of painting in the sylvan setting. It is AVAILABLE and if interested please send me a note to arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net.  Thank you, Ellie (Eleanor Erickson Hargrave, Artist)

"Ready to Sail", 14" x 11", Oil on Canvas. (SOLD)

"Ready to Sail", 14" x 11", Oil on Canvas. This painting was inspired when I went down to Balboa with my special beach loving friend. We love to hang out in Balboa having lunch and then looking through the shops.  We always end up walking close to the water as I shoot photos of boats and nautical things. She has a good eye and makes fun observant comments as we go. I love the flowers at the beach too as they seem to bloom just a little better there. The sparkle of the white paint and sails in the sunlight just captivate me. It looks so clean and fresh against the blue of the water.  I hope you like my impressionistic style of capturing this boat scene.  Balboa is one of my favorite places, can you tell?  Thank you. If interested please write me at arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net

"TALL VASE of RED ROSES", 16" x 20", Oil on Canvas (SOLD)

"Tall Vase of Red Roses", 16" x 20", Oil on Canvas.  These beautiful tall roses were too beautiful to not paint.  It started them some time ago but the color just didn't suit me.  I set it aside as I do occasionally with an oil. The other day I went back to it with a fresh new idea. I changed the color of the roses as well as the background.  In my idea it just worked and I had such fun dabbing on the impressionistic style brush strokes from a distance. I sold it in the first morning and I couldn't be happier how it ended up and where it's going to hang.  I hope you enjoy looking at it also as I've heard it had quite a good response.  This gives new thought to painting more red roses.   Thank you very much.   Any questions, you may send me a note. arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net

"LILLIES of the DAY", 9" x 12", Original Watercolor (AVAILABLE)

"Lillies of the Day", 9" x 12", Original Watercolor.  This painting was inspired by a photo I took at a friends home just before they moved. I already painted a similar one named "Daylillies" which and had requests to do another.  I painted it in my own impressionistic style using Holbein artists transparent watercolors.  I like the colors and tried to capture the sense of the dark lush background behind the daylillies. I hope you enjoy..and if interested please write me at arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net   Thank you.

"THE RED BARN", 11" x 14", Oil on Canvas, (SOLD)

"THE RED BARN", 11" x 14", Oil on Canvas (framed) was one of my favorites to paint. This barn is in Fallbrook, CA at the Myrtle Creek Nursery. An often painted barn I suspect, nessled under trees and by all the gorgeous flowers at the nursery.  I wanted to try something different and used a very limited pallette, painting in my own impressionistic style.  I only used Ultramarine Blue, Med. Cad Yellow and Cadmium Red, plus Ivory Black and Titatium White.  It is amazing how all the colors work and really all one needs.  It prooved out to work for me but I hope you like it too. I took the photo of this barn when down there one time and have been looking forward to the day of painting it. Thank you for looking. If interested, please write me at my email   arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net

"PINK ROSES, MOMMA'S PLATES", 7.9 x 7.9", Original Watercolor. (AVAILABLE)

"Pink Roses, Momma's Plates", 7.9" x 7.9",  Original Watercolor.  This quaint little watercolor painting of pink roses is special to me for many reasons. They were such beautiful roses and I put them in an antique vase that was my Mothers.  She used it for roses or sweet peas that I remember and now I took it out for these flowers.  For the background I pulled out two plates from my cupboard that I use often. I love blue and white plates in the kitchen as well as my Villeroy & Boch dishes. In this case I was the Momma, having had four of my own. It was fun to attempt to paint these dishes and I hope you enjoy seeing them. This painting is available and if interested just send me a note at arroyoellie@sbcglobal.net  Thank you..Ellie

"WHITE DAFFODILS by the FENCE", 11" x 14", Oil on Canvas, Framed (AVAILABLE)

White Daffodils by the Fence, 11" x 14", Oil on Canvas, Framed.  I painted this oil over a period of 2 months, adding texture and depth to the white daffodils. I so enjoyed painting these white daffodils and have painted yellow daffodils by fences before. Something about the little cupped flowers which remind me of a woodsy setting out in nature somewhere. This was painted in my own impressionistic style, using quality artistic Gamblin oil paints.  The frame that I put this in is just gorgeous and I hope you look at it closely. The photo was hard to get because of the glare on the damp oil paint,  I decided to post it anyway in spite of that. I hope you enjoy this painting. Thank you.

"RED GERANIUMS in a CROCK", 8" x 8", Oil on Canvas, (AVAILABLE)

"Red Geraniums in a Crock", 8" x 8", Oil on Canvas. Is a beautiful small and vibrant, earthy painting of Red Geraniums which had been blooming on my patio.  I love to paint geraniums and some of my fondest painting memories are of those. The scent reminds me of my Mother's geraniums which I remember from my very early childhood.  She had them by the back door and when I was in outside in the play pen I could feel an occasional light breeze which carried the geranium scent. Mostly though I remember my Mother's smile as she turned around occasionally to check on me.  Just one of many memories and one reason I paint. Thank you for looking and I hope it brought you enjoyment.  Thank you
