"Sunny Sunflowers", 6" x 6", Oil on Canvas. This oil painting of cheerful Sunflowers was painted yesterday as my first of 30 paintings I hope to do in 30 days. This challange was inspired by Leslie Saeta as a way of artists to join together to further learn and have fun. She is just amazing and has a great talent and knowledge of marketing. I know it will be fun and I hope to learn something valuable. I have painted this painting before from a photo I took of the still life. It was so cheerful and I wanted to paint it again, not something I usually do. I painted it in my own impressionistic style with Gamblin and Rembrandt artists oil paints. I love the whimsy of the petals and even of the underside of the the flower on upper right side. I hope you enjoy this and if interested in purchasing, please contact me. The price of this painting is $165.00, with free shipping in the US. It is unframed but I will get a nice frame for you at my cost, about $35.00, if you ask. Thank you for stopping by.
I grew up in Pasadena, California, and have lived near the edge of the Arroyo my whole life. First with my parents and sister, and then later with my own family, with a son and three daughters. I had a happy and busy life. As the kids grew I also went back to school, earning my RN degree. I then worked at the hospital where I was born, as well as where I had my own children. I always had a desire to paint but never gave it much thought until one day...and the story goes from there. I became self taught until studying watercolor with, Nuttall, Wiegardt, Stoddard, and Swenson, some of the best. From there I went to Art Center College of Design, up on the hill, where I first learned of my passion to also paint in oil. I was signed up to take a workshop with, Charles Reid who is my very favorite artist in watercolor and oil. Since fall, I have been dealing with breast cancer so my desires to take certain classes have to go on the back burner for now. Just a bump in the road is all. I also have great admiration for the talent of Jeremy Lipking. I check out his work frequently and am in awe. He is really good..!!
